About me
For as long as I can remember, making art has been a passion of mine. I enjoy working with many mediums. When I was in college at North Park University in Chicago, I really began experimenting with painting and printmaking. For my BA degree, I concentrated my studies on graphic design.
I am drawn to details and textures. In my work I try to showcase my subject in the way I find most fitting for the medium. In drawing and printmaking I like creating very detailed images with textures that mimic things in the natural world. In painting I try to embrace the viscosity of the paint using a variety of elements to add in with the paint (like rice and pasta sometimes).
In digital illustrations I like to keep the designs simple with bold and contrasting colors and shapes.
Much of my work is influenced by photos I've taken, nature, my family, pop culture, and great artists before me. I have always had a fascination with the impressionist and post- impressionist painters like Claude Monet, Georges Seurat, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Vincent van Gogh. Another major influence is the idea of embracing the childlike. Having worked at a summer bible camp for many years, being creative and goofy and observant is a big part of the job.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my work and read these words. I hope you can find inspiration and joy from what I've created.
